FASD/CDBC Key Worker Program

Support for Families of Children with FASD and Complex Needs

The Key Worker Program provides practical support for families of children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and Complex Developmental Behavioural Conditions (CDBC). The program connects families to local resources and offers guidance based on each child’s individual needs and strengths.

How We Support Families:

  • Assessment Guidance: We help families access diagnostic services through the Interior Health Children’s Assessment Network (IHCAN) and understand how to apply assessment recommendations.

  • Behavioural Strategies: We offer positive, practical strategies to address behavioural challenges, build skills, and support child development.

  • Focus on Strengths: We help families recognize and build on their child’s strengths at home, in school, and in the community.

  • Collaboration: Key Workers work with families, schools, social workers, and other agencies to provide advocacy, resources, and referrals.

Caregiver Support Group

We offer a free weekly support group on Zoom for caregivers, including birth, adoptive, foster, and extended family members. This group is open to anyone across the interior region, including Kamloops, Merritt, Chase, Ashcroft, Cache Creek, Lytton, Lillooet, and nearby communities.

In this group, caregivers can:

  • Share experiences and problem-solve together

  • Learn about FASD and CDBC

  • Explore their child’s strengths

  • Receive peer support and current information

The group provides a confidential space to build connection, resilience, and practical tools to manage everyday challenges.
