The program supports children with a diagnosed Developmental Disability (intellectual disability), Autism Spectrum Disorder, or children assessed as eligible for the At Home Program and their families.
Eligibility for the program is determined by the Ministry of Children and Family Development staff – Children and Youth with Special Needs (MCFD/CYSN) and they manage the wait-list. Entry into the program is determined primarily by CYSN staff with input from the Insight Program Coordinator and Director(s). Priority is determined based on a combination of urgency rating and time wait-listed.
The service provides time-limited, goal-focused service to enhance life skills and independence of children and youth and to assist families with strategies and approaches with their child that will help to preserve family integrity.
Family Support Workers work with families and children/youth for a specified number of hours per week in direct contact with children and/or their families working toward goals identified in a written service agreement.
Services are usually provided in a one-to-one format but are also, on a limited basis, done in group settings.
Insight Education Program acknowledges that we are situated on the traditional and unceded lands of the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc within Secwépemc’ulucw, the traditional territory of the Secwépemc people. We recognize that this territory has always been a place of teaching, learning and research, and we continue these traditions. We acknowledge the Secwepemc people who have been here for thousands of years. We acknowledge the many Indigenous Peoples from across this land.
